You could call this stretch of river my "home" water, as I have spent more hours fishing the PM upstream from Gleasons's Landing than any section of river, and like today often accompanied by my good friend and fishing buddy - Jon Damon. We left Grand Rapids about 10:30, stopping for breakfast in Brohman before packing upstream to an afternoon of plying our favorite runs for a few early steelhead. Although the day was beautiful and warm for this time of year, the fishing did not include catching. Jon hooked and played a nice Brown but did not bring it to net. The most memorable moment was breaking my newly replaced 8-weight rod while retrieving a $2 streamer from a tag elder snare. Now I must suffer the embarrassment of going back to Orvis for the second time in 6 months to ask for a replacement. We got skunked, but the experience was pleasant and gratifying. It always is.
Weather: Sunny, 50 degrees, light winds
