My son Brad & I had a very enjoyable time today on the Manistee with guide Ed McCoy. While Ed cooked lunch we hiked up the hill to look at the High Bridge marker. It's amazing that a structure like this was built across such a wide and high river valley in 1889 without much in the way of mechanical equipment. While the bridge was torn down in 1955, there is still evidence of the support structure on both sides of the river.
